George Schwartz - Master Conservator

George Schwartz has been active as a conservator in private practice since 1963 when he joined the family business.

Rigorous training, extensive study, years of hands-on practice and ongoing personal research provides the background for ethical conservation treatment and consulting services performed by Mr. Schwartz.

An enthusiastic supporter of preservation, Mr. Schwartz consistently advocates on behalf of and for the benefit of artwork and cultural property. This clarity of vision provides a reliable compass to navigate the treacherous currents and ever-changing trends in conservation ethics.

Paintings, works on paper, and frames constitute the majority of the objects treated on a regular basis. In addition, Mr. Schwartz provides a variety of services: archival custom picture framing, conservation exhibit framing, condition reports and surveys, examination and documentation, scientific photography and analysis, conservation planning, environmental assessment, disaster planning and recovery, exhibit and storage design and fabrication, as well as teaching and lecturing. A list of clients includes Museums, Historical Societies, Conservation Practitioner colleagues, Insurance Companies, branches of Government, Private and Public Collections, Galleries, Dealers, and Individuals.
